Maëlle Ricker – Gold medalist for Women’s Snowboard Cross

Okay, you HAVE to see this race from earlier today in the Olympics 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada:

She‘s Canadian you know.

You should’ve seen the qualifying races earlier today.  Conditions were initially quite foggy and the women were falling all over the place on the course, many not able to complete it.  Ricker fell in the first qualifying round but then did well in her second and the following quarter finals and semi-finals.  But then gold in the finals!  Wow!

By winning gold today, she became the first Canadian woman to place gold in the Olympics on Canadian soil!
